Susquehanna Valley EMS Training Institute is dedicated to training the finest providers. Taught by state-certified instructors, our students receive an outstanding education. They gain unmatched practical experience with one-on-one instruction, hands-on skill sessions, clinical field training, classroom lectures, time spent in an ambulance, and at local hospitals.
Unlike other programs in the area, tuition includes a shirt, course textbook, and access to on-line materials needed to complete your education. Once your education is complete and you have passed the National Registry exam, it’s our hope you will apply for employment with SVEMS.
Susquehanna Valley EMS Training Institute also offers a Scholarship Program. We encourage Veterans and those who are unemployed to apply.

EMTs, AEMTs and Paramedics work in a very demanding, yet rewarding field. These professionals must work well with others, think and act quickly, as well as maintain a strong commitment to training and education. Susquehanna Valley EMS Training Institute offers the following programs:
This course will provide the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) student the knowledge and skills required to provide appropriate emergency care and transportation of patients suffering from injuries.
The course is approximately 220 hours and classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-10pm.
When students successfully complete the course, they will earn the following certifications:
PA Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Emergency Vehicle Driver Training (EVDT)
CPR for Healthcare Provider
Advanced Life Support Assist
National Incident Management System
Training in Vehicle Extrication
AEMT Certification course
This course is designed for those students currently holding an EMT Basic Certification, and who are 18 years of age. The AEMT Certification is an intensive 10-week program, in a hybrid format, providing approximately 260 hours of education with self-paced on–line study and in-class sessions every Saturday from 8am-5pm.
The AEMT Certification requires students to have a greater depth of understanding in all things related to prehospital emergency medicine.
When students successfully complete the course, they will learn:
Additional skills to manage cardiac arrest
Additional skills to manage trauma
Administration of intravenous fluids & medications
Advanced airway maneuvers
Students will complete at least 72 hours of clinical time in both an emergency department and on an ambulance with a paramedic preceptor. Clinical work will consist of hands-on experiences where students are actively engaged in the care of a patient.
